New Winery preview tasting - September 23 - 7334 N Central Ave

If you have been paying attention you will know that Laurie and I will be moving to Cave Creek.  We have set a target date of October 17.  This means that we don’t have very much time to fit in a tasting at our current house.  This will be the last event at our Phoenix house.  Looking at Grand Canyon trips and business trips, it seems as though the only time is next Tuesday.  We intend to sample some of the wines that Dick and I collected on our hardworking trip last month.  We have limited samples, so only a little of the wine will be poured - we will do some pre-selling of our customers with the remainder.  So if you remember the drill, I’ll be getting a couple of hunks of cheese and some bread.  You’ll be getting here at 5 or 6 p.m. and staying as long as you want or until we throw you out.

Red Kangaroo, Chandler - October 10/11

Dick and I will do our “pour the wine and shoot the breeze” act on Friday and Saturday.   Dick seems to have us nailed to Roger’s calendar for every other month.  Dick will probably be trying to get another wine selection there.  Roger should have the Kilt Lifter ale on tap by then for those of you who don’t like to drink on an empty stomach, or need to cleanse your palate…

Red Kangaroo/Marinda Park special

The three Red Kangaroo stores are running a special on the Marinda Park Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines.  They are specially priced at around $15.  This will probably run for a month or two - less if you get out and stock up.  This price is intended to have the wine “fly off the shelves” - and it is.

Arizona Republic Wine of the Week

Last Wednesday the Arizona Republic featured Marinda Park Sauvignon Blanc as its “Wine of the Week”.  Here is a link to the article:

The winery owner, Mark Rodman, said “Strange he saw no bouquet, I find it quite varietal. Timid is also not a word I would use”.  Now would be a good time to score some of this wine because the “roos” have it on special.

New Outlet - Cave Creek Wines

Located just North of the 101 on Cave Creek Road, cunningly hidden behind a Superpumper gas station, this new store opened a couple of months ago.  Owners Bob and Liza Lee are trying to make this a place to hang out and drink wine and are finding their feet in terms of what wines they should be carrying.  Dyane is helping them.  On the last couple of Thursdays she took along some wines for them to try.  The first week they ordered a case of Noceto Frivolo, the second week a case of RustRidge Zinfandel.  Who knows what they will be buying next week?

Cin-cin, alla salute!

Richard and Laurie
